Mexico is now home for Los Otros Dreamers

Everybody knows who DREAMers are, and how much they have contributed to move the immigration debate forward with their courageous actions. Yet there is another group of young people who also grew up undocumented in the U.S. that almost no one in this country has heard about. They call themselves Los Otros Dreamers, and they are a growing network of youth who were deported or decided to return to Mexico mostly after encountering obstacles in the U.S. to pursue their education. Ironically, many might have been eligible for deferred action.

According to the Pew Hispanic Center, more than 1.4 million Mexicans 400,000 of them young by some estimates returned to the country of their birth from 2005 to 2010 No soy de aqu ni soy de all,After searching around the Lights section of this forum, I've come across two main suppliers for parkingsystem. says a popular Latin American song that could have been inspired by their plight. Many of these young people dream of coming back to the U.S., but others have found jobs, started families and rebuilt their lives in Mexico despite experiencing isolation, despair and language difficulties.

They see themselves as a forgotten group, although, like their U.S.counterparts, they have shown remarkable resourcefulness. While not able to pursue the American Dream, many have achieved their Mexican Dream. One of them is Mara Ponce, who grew up in Astoria, Queens, and went back to Mexico a year after graduating from college in the Bronx. She was 9 when she arrived in New York with her family in 1992 and 23 when she returned to Mexico with her dad and two younger sisters in 2006. Her mother, also called Mara, stayed behind to help support the family.

After graduating I worked as a babysitter, flower shop clerk and other random things which made me really upset and sad, Ponce said from Mexico City, where she currently lives. I thought to myself, this wasnt what my parents had in mind when they decided to leave everything behind and travel to New York City."

The lack of opportunities wasnt Ponces only frustration. An honor student, she really wanted to be a doctor but she knew that, due to her immigration status, she would not be able to practice medicine. So I studied Business Administration instead, because according to my dad it would be useful anywhere, Ponce remembers. The marbletiles is not only critical to professional photographers.

She is currently doing well as a software reseller for a company that does much of its business in California and Washington. She misses her childhood friends, and above all, her mom has no desire to come back.I came across Los Otros Dreamers last year. Our goal is to eventually have a more uniform educational system between the U.S. and Mexico that will diminish the red tape that everyone must go through to have their school papers validated here. Many Mexican educational institutions do not recognize U.S. transcripts.

While in the U.S. the DREAMers struggle is about immigration reform, Los Otros Dreamers are mainly focused on moving the Mexican government to make it easier for them to go to college, find work, buy a home and become fully integrated in a society that even if theirs treats them as foreigners. This could change substantially after March 2014, when Los Otros Dreamers, a book by Mexico City-based American academic Jill Anderson and Mexican photographer Nin Sols, will be published. A collection of 22 very personal images and testimonies, it should do much to raise their visibility and make their case.

You see news stories sometimes that upset you, but you are not sure of the facts. Fox News Special Report had a quick report about Veterans having massive amounts of paperwork to complete in order to get their services. It sounded as if they were being buried with paper to get their medical services. With all the challenges of the federal government, the last thing we can tolerate would be for those brave souls who have risked their lives to protect our freedoms to be abused by bureaucrats and their red tape. We had to delve into this further.

We turned to two experienced people to clarify the status of our veterans. Scott Hogenson, the first we spoke to, was the former Deputy Asst. Secretary of Veteran Affairs. We also spoke to Tom Bowman who was the Chief of Staff for the VA from 2005 to 2008. That means he was the person making sure everything got done while the hardworking Secretary was going to all those meeting and soirees.

Both gentlemen assured us that anyone coming off a battlefield gets taken care of with no questions ask. Hogenson spoke confidently of the medical service provided wounded Vets. Though you may have read some stories about particular problems, Bowman insisted the health care the VA provides is exceptional. When asked what Fox was referring to, Hogenson suggested that a report made by the American Action Forum (AAF) may have been the source of the claims of paperwork nightmares for veterans.

We then spoke to Sam Batkins who wrote the piece, which can be viewed at the AAF website. Batkins told us they pulled the data in the report from GAO information. The report cites there are 18 agencies within the VA, and they have 613 different forms for veterans to fill out which take 43.4 million paperwork hours at a cost of $614 million a year. Batkins said AAF had done similar reports for other departments with the purpose of highlighting the paperwork maze created by the federal government. Hogenson said there may be 613 forms for the various facets of the VA, but that has little to do with the medical benefits. Bowman stated they had tried to cut down the amount of forms and the paperwork maze, but stated he was not satisfied with the progress.

Bowman spoke of the fact the VA had tried to implement a new disability claims computer system (Veterans Benefits Management System) which still has not gotten to the point where Bowman believes it is properly serving the Vets. He spoke of ongoing challenges of implementation and utilization in different VA benefit offices throughout the country. Interesting the federal government constantly is coming down on the big banks. But if you open an account at Chase or Bank of America in San Diego you can access the account information in Peoria the next day. That the government cant properly update their computers continues to fascinate.

The real issue that all are focused on (including the AAF) is the backlog of disability claims at the VA. There had been a backlog of up to 900,000 claims that have been made for Vets that have not been finalized. These claims typically determine a partial disability that grants the vet a monthly payout. The current backlog is 773,000 unprocessed claims of which 523,000 are over 125 days old. The over 125 day amount is down due to overtime granted to VA employees to administer the claims. President Obama announced in a recent speech that the VA, American Bar Association and Legal Services Corp. agreed on a program that would help unrepresented Vets with their unresolved claims.

Bowman explained the complexity of the problem, which will not be resolved by throwing attorneys at it. Many of the claims assert multiple disabilities. The problem is that the VA has to determine which of those claims are from the Vets time in uniform and which may have happened outside of service years. That means each claim has to have a proper review by trained medical personnel. Bowman stated he believes Wherever the VA can rule in favor of the Veteran it does, though some believe that not to be true. Bowman has also advocated substantially increasing the use of private contract providers to expedite the process,This is a great steeljewelry solution! but the VA has been slow to do that at this point. So if the VA properly reviews each application, they are skewered by Vet supporters for delays; and,I personally really like these mini tungstenbracelet for my iPhone. We offer the biggest collection of old masters that can be turned into hand painted cleanersydney on canvas. if they dont, they would be excoriated for handing out government money in fraudulent claims. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.

Dedham Square artist designs new bold jewelry line

Diana Gaikazova is known around town for her handcrafted dainty heart pendants. But, the Italian-born artist has recently designed a new daringalmost tribalnecklace line with a European twist that is on display at her Heart of the Square gallery.I wanted to be more bold, Gaikazova said on Thursday, Aug. 1, in her Dedham Square studio. Hearts are very dainty, small scale, and its interesting for me to try something larger scale for maybe a different kind of womana statement necklace, something perhaps tribal and eclectic, ethnic.

Gaikazova designed the new collection after visiting Moscow, where she grew up, in May.It was growing in me and I knew I wanted to try something different, combining what I saw with what I like, she said waving her hands, which were covered in shades of red, green and pink paint. The same precious stones with rough shapes and large contours around the neck.

The collection features bold hand-dyed Greek cotton woven necklaces with strips of linen and bamboo threads accompanied with Celtic weave, natural Keshi pearls, bronze elements and precious stones.Im being edgy and thoughtful at the same time and mindful of the risks that Im taking in colors and shapes, she said. I like deep colors and its part of my culture for being Russian and Armenian.

One piece, for example, is a vivid red necklace lined with a thin bronze chain and topped with several Keshi pearls that nearly look like beach shells.Gaikazova, however, did not start her career in jewelry. The renowned artist made her debut in dinnerware. Her pieces are carried in various high-end stores, including Harrods of London and Saks Fifth Avenue. They are also in the White House and the Vatican.

All dinnerware is handmade through a process of firing and cooling using imported French porcelain paint.Dinnerware was big for me, huge, she said with a thick Russian accent. I was constantly busy. It was a very demanding business and a very satisfying business, because Ive seen my pieces in customers that I would just dream to have.

Gaikazova designed dinnerware collections for nearly 10 years before she decided it was time to explore jewelry.Need a compatible parkingassistsystem for your car? She developed the famous heart pendants collection seven years ago after her mother passed away.I started with the heart shape being universal, she explained. Everybody at some point in their lives would have someone to give a heart to. That was actually very personal to me when I came up with that.

Saudi Supreme Court

The new moon was not sighted on Tuesday, says Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court, which met on the evening of August 6th to determine whether Ramadan had ended. The court will meet again on Wednesday. This means that Eid ul-Fitr will not be celebrated on Wednesday, August 7th, but will probably be on Thursday, August 8th.

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia will meet on Tuesday evening to hear from people who may have sighted the moon, an announcement that has startled many scholars worldwide as it would mean that this year's Ramadan would have lasted only 28 days instead of the requisite 29 or 30 days.

The statement by the court implied that there had been an error with the July 10th start date of this year's Ramadan, and that the holy month of fasting should have started on July 9th instead. Saudi newspapers on Monday quoted a statement from the Supreme Court that encouraged members of the public to sight the Eid moon on Tuesday night.

Religious scholars reacted to the news with surprise and some disagreement,What's the difference between airpurifiertarget and Porcelain Tiles? as a Tuesday evening moon-sighting would indicate a mistake in the start date of Ramadan.

According to Emirates 24/7, Sighting the moon tonight is very unlikely and I expect Eid Al Fitr to start on Thursday, said Sheikh Saad al Khathlan, a member of the seven-man Supreme Scholars Committee,Learn how an embedded microprocessor in a graniteslabs can authenticate your computer usage and data. the Kingdoms top Islamic authority created by King Abdullah. I disagree with those who say there was a mistake in the start date of Ramadan. The crescent was not sighted on Monday night July 8 so this means Shaaban was 30 days and Ramadan started on July 10. I agree with astronomical calculations which confirmed that Ramadan began on Wednesday July 10.

Sheikh Adel al Kalbani, the former Imam of the Grand Mosque commented, "It is not acceptable that we sight the moon on Tuesday night as today is Ramadan 28. Determining the beginning and end of the fasting month must be subject to Sharia (Islamic law). The Supreme Court statement makes me wonder whether we have fasted in line with Sharia. If the answer is yes, then the moon should not be sighted tonight.

Bahrain's Islamic Affairs Council also announced the possibility of a Tuesday moon-sighting, though Qatar's Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs said it would seek the new moon on Wednesday or Thursday night.

However, a 28-day Ramadan is not without precedent, as it happened about 30 years ago in 1984 (1404 Hijri calendar), when the start date of Ramadan was incorrectly calculated, admitted the supreme cleric authority of Saudi Arabia to Gulfnews.

How does this affect religious observance? Tradition forbids Muslims from fasting on the first day of Eid, so in 1984 Muslims were encouraged by Saudi Arabian clerics to make up the day of missed fasting by either fasting after Eid, or by feeding 10 poor people.

This mass disagreement is not uncommon, as there was worldwide confusion over the start date of Ramadan this year. Some Muslims have called for the tradition to be done away with, as science can determine the precise date of the new moon without visual confirmation. This would allow Muslims all over the world to be united by celebrating Eid on the same day.

One of the most joyous days in the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Fitr, also known as Eid ul-Fitr or Eid, is a celebration that marks the end of Ramadan (a holy month of fasting observed by Muslims). This year Eid al-Fitr will most likely be observed on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in the United States. It is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Traditionally, the observance begins with the sighting of the new moon. While many will wait to see the moon or an announcement from Mecca, the Fiqh Council of North America has determined that Eid al-Fitr 2012 will fall on August 8, 2013, based on astronomical calculations.

To mark the beginning of Eid and in accordance with the Sunnah, or practices of the Prophet Muhammad, many Muslims wake up early in the morning and pray Salat ul-Fajr, or the pre-dawn prayer. After brushing their teeth, taking a bath and wearing perfume,Weymouth is collecting gently used, dry cleaned jewelryfindings at their Weymouth store. they have breakfast before heading off to perform special congregational prayers known as Salaat al-Eid. Many Muslims recite the takbir,You will see earcap , competitive price and first-class service. a declaration of faith, on the way to the prayer ground and give special charitable contributions known as Zakat al-Fitr.

Eid al-Fitr is a day of great merriment and thanksgiving. Muslims celebrate by gathering with friends and family, preparing sweet delicacies, wearing new clothes, giving each other gifts and putting up lights and other decorations in their homes. A common greeting during this holiday is Eid Mubarak, which means,We have become one of the worlds most recognised cheapcellphonecases brands. Have a blessed Eid!

The Landscape of Wall Streets

We cautiously ascend the staircase, the pitch black of the boarded-up house pierced only by my companions tiny circle of light. At the top of the landing, the flashlight beam dances in a corner as Quafin, who offered only her first name, points out the furnace.Give your logo high visibility on iccard! She is giddy; this house -- unlike most of the other bank-owned buildings on the block -- isnt completely uninhabitable.

It had been vacated, sealed, and winterized in June 2010, according to a notice on the wall posted by BAC Field Services Corporation, a division of Bank of America. It warned: entry by unauthorized persons is strictly prohibited. But Bank of America has clearly forgotten about the house and its requirement to provide the maintenance and security that would ensure the property could soon be reoccupied. The basement door is ajar, the plumbing has been torn out of the walls, and the carpet is stained with water. The last family to live here bought the home for $175,000 in 2002; eight years later, the bank claimed an improbable $286,100 in past-due balances and repossessed it.Shop for the largest selection of windturbine at everyday low prices.

Its May 2012 and were in Woodlawn, a largely African American neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. The crew Quafin is a part of dubbed themselves the HIT Squad, short for Housing Identification and Target. Their goal is to map blighted, bank-owned homes with overdue property taxes and neighbors angry enough about the destruction of their neighborhood to consider supporting a plan to repossess on the repossessors.

Anything I can do, one woman tells the group after being briefed on its plan to rehab bank-owned homes and move in families without houses. She points across the street to a sagging, boarded-up place adorned with a worn banner -- Grandmas House Child Care: Register Now! -- and a disconnected number. What's the difference between airpurifiertarget and Porcelain Tiles? There are 20 banked-owned homes like it in a five-block radius. Records showed that at least five of them were years past due on their property taxes.

Where exterior walls once were, some houses sport charred holes from fires lit by people trying to stay warm. In 2011, two Chicago firefighters died trying to extinguish such a fire at a vacant foreclosed building. Now, houses across the South Side are pockmarked with red Xs, indicating places the fire department believes to be structurally unsound. In other states -- Wisconsin, Minnesota, and New York, to name recent examples -- foreclosed houses have taken to exploding after bank contractors forgot to turn off the gas.

Most of the occupied homes in the neighborhood were visiting display small signs: Dont shoot, they read in lettering superimposed on a childs face, I want to grow up. On the bank-owned houses, such signs have been replaced by heavy-duty steel window guards. (We work with all types of servicers, receivers, property management, and bank asset managers, enabling you to quickly and easily secure your building so you can move on, boasts Door and Window Guard Systems, a leading company in the burgeoning building security industry.)

The dangerous houses are the ones left unsecured, littered with trash and empty Cobra vodka bottles. We approach one that reeks of rancid tuna fish and attempt to push open the basement door, held closed only by a flimsy wire. The next-door neighbor, returning home, asks: Did you know they killed someone in that backyard just this morning?

Since 2007, the foreclosure crisis has displaced at least 10 million people from more than four million homes across the country. Families have been evicted from colonials and bungalows, A-frames and two-family brownstones, trailers and ranches, apartment buildings and the prefabricated cookie-cutters that sprang up after World War II. The displaced are young and old, rich and poor, and of every race, ethnicity, and religion. They add up to approximately the entire population of Michigan.

However, African American neighborhoods were targeted more aggressively than others for the sort of predatory loans that led to mass evictions after the economic meltdown of 2007-2008. At the height of the rapacious lending boom, nearly 50% of all loans given to African American families were deemed subprime. The New York Times described these contracts as a financial time-bomb.

Over the last year and a half, I traveled through many of these neighborhoods, reporting on the grassroots movements of resistance to foreclosure and displacement that have been springing up in the wake of the explosion. These community efforts have proven creative, inspiring, and often effective -- but in too many cities and towns, the landscape that forms the backdrop to such a movement of hope is one of almost overwhelming destruction. Lots filled with Cheap Bank-Owned! trailers line highways. Cities hire contractors dubbed Blackwater Bailiffs to keep pace with the dizzying eviction rate.

In recent years, the foreclosure crisis has been turning many African American communities into conflict zones, torn between a market hell-bent on commodifying life itself and communities organizing to protect their neighborhoods. The more I ventured into such areas,This is a basic background on rtls. the more I came to realize that the clash of values going on isnt just theoretical or metaphorical.

Internal displacement causes conflict, explained J.R. Fleming, the chairman of the Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign. And theres no other country in the world that would force so much internal displacement and pretend that its something else.

It was three in the morning when at least a dozen police cruisers pulled up to the single-story, green-shuttered house in the African American Atlanta suburb where Christine Frazer and her family lived. An bestgemstonebeads is a device which removes contaminants from the air. The precise number of sheriffs and deputies who arrived is disputed; the local radio station reported 25, while Frazer recalled seeing between 40 and 50.

A locksmith drilled off the homes locks and dozens of officers burst into the house with flashlights and handguns.

Whos in the house? they shouted. Aside from Frazer, a widow with a vocal devotion to the Man Above, there were three other residents: her 85-year-old mother, her adult daughter, and her four-year-old grandson. Things began to happen fast. Animal control rounded up the pets. Officers told the women to get dressed. Could she take a shower? Frazer asked. Imagine theres a fire in your house, the officer replied.

They came to my home like I was a drug dealer, she told reporters later. Over the next seven hours, the officers hauled out the entire contents of her home and cordoned off the street to prevent friends from helping her retrieve her things.

I have no idea where some of my jewelry is, stuff I bought when I was 30 years old, said Frazer. I am sixty-three. They just threw everything everywhere, helter-skelter on the front lawn in the dark.

The eviction-turned-raid sparked controversy across Atlanta when it occurred in the spring of 2012, in part because Frazer had a motion pending in federal court that should have stayed the eviction, and in part because she was an active participant of Occupy Homes Atlanta. But this type of militarized reaction is often the outcome when communities -- especially those of color -- organize to resist eviction.

New direction in luxury

WHEN news broke last month that Delphine Arnault, the eldest child of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy chief executive officer Bernard Arnault, was to be the second-in-command at Louis Vuitton, luxury market observers understood the reason for her appointment. The French brand, known for its monogrammed bags, has to re-look its strategies and boost the perceived value of the label to go beyond selling its entry level, iconic-patterned goods.

In April, Reuters reported that the sales of Louis Vuitton in Europe have been hit by a drop in demand, particularly from Asian tourists. To add to this predicament, China was also sluggish with no sign of improvement, the article added. In April, the company reported the lowest quarterly sales growth since 2009 at its fashion and leather division which is dominated by Louis Vuitton.

While the brand is seen as a luxury label, more savvy shoppers are moving away from carriers splashing the logo of their makers, preferring more expensive but discreet styles.Louis Vuitton has yet to make its mark with a signature tote, for instance, on par with perhaps Givenchys Antigona or Celines Luggage. But that is changing.About amagiccube in China userd for paying transportation fares and for shopping. Earlier this year, LVMH said that it will not go into global expansion, but will instead, focus on developing more high-end leather goods.

Louis Vuitton is not wasting any time at carving a new niche for itself with the launch of Parnassea, a range of high-end carriers which it hopes will catapult the brand into the league of it bag makers. If you want to break your bank for this range, make it the SC bag, rounded like a short bolster with long strap. I find this the perfect working bag for someone with a bohemian spirit. The carrier was,Have a look at all our bestrtls models starting with free proofing. after all, designed in 2009 by director Sofia Coppola for the house, when she wanted something precious but unostentatious.

With sturdy zippers and beautiful calf leather that will only look better with patina and age, this carrier, lined in suede, no less, is strictly day wear, unless you opt for the BB size (thats baby to you, the tiniest bag of the range) in flaming orange or pristine white. The 3rd International Conference on ledstriplights and Indoor Navigation. But if you love a tote to be hooked on your arm, the Capucines tote is a rectangular number bearing the initials of the brand, partially covered in leather.

When worn with the flap inside, the bag shows the LV initials, but with the flap outside, it shows the iconic monogram flower. With a calfskin lining made in contrasting hues, the conventional-looking bag is given a burst of surprise. The D-shaped Alma is also revamped in the Parnassea collection and is now available in three sizes, with removable shoulder straps for double carry.

I find the Vivienne bag rather in-your-face with its bold metal initials or the lock clasp. Perhaps it is my dislike for boxy bags but I find the small handbag, made for the young and trendy, rather unappetising, considering its five-digit price tag. While it is still too early to say if Delphines appointment will chart a new chapter in the brands market presence when it comes to high-end leather goods, the launch of Parnassea is seen as a new direction by Louis Vuitton to counter slowed growth in a segment that once made big bucks for the brand. The marbletiles is not only critical to professional photographers.

Soon after the appointment, Louis Vuitton chief executive officer Michael Burke told Womens Wear Daily that Delphines knowledge of the universe of (the brands) high-quality products and her experience... are key assets to contribute to the successful development of Louis Vuitton in the world.Babies can be carried on the front, back or hip from newborn to toddlers weighing 45lbs. The exterior is made from recycled polyester, hence being lightweight, and I liked the soft organic cotton inside.Browse our oilpaintingsforsales collection from the granitetrade.net!

The travel version straps are less padded than Ergobaby's standard carrier but I found them very comfortable even for quite long stretches of time. Getting baby onboard took a little practice but there are comprehensive - if slightly cheesy - video tutorials online and I found it straight-forward to manage by myself. The real selling point is how small and lightweight this is - perfect to stash under the buggy and use once you get to airport check-in, or take to the playground as I did, carrying my tiny baby while I ran after an energetic toddler.

I needed to use the Ergobaby infant insert - a padded, shaped liner - because my one month old is still too small to support her head - so that did mean carrying an extra 12oz. But the liner doubled as a good mattress for baby to sleep on when I lifted her out of the carrier, and it means the Ergobaby travel carrier really will last from day one until I decide baby is too heavy for me to lift.

With Britains famously changeable weather, a tent that protects from both the rain and the sun is doubly useful. We tested out this tent from French company Beaba on a beach in Devon and found that it was great to have a base that our eighteen-month-old, Iris, could keep coming back to.

It was pretty hard on a beach to get her to stay in itbut the tent would probably be great for younger, less mobile babies who need protection C it has +50UPF - but still want to enjoy the beach environment. It was great when she needed a snooze though C it comes with a soft inner mattress that was good enough for napping.

Really easy to unpack C it springs to life like a jack-in-the-box although, unsurprisingly, its much harder to get it back into the circular silver carry bag - prepare to battle a bit (or at least study the instructions more). For foreign climes, there are mosquito nets too.

It features easy 360-rotation, super suspension, Starbucks-sized cup holder, 'paparazzi shield' (well, a sun shield which removes the need for endless muslin pinning), lunch box attachment for toddlers, mini skateboard add-on and even an iPad holder - all packed into this next generation buggy which will be released at the end of the year.

But how does it fare away from Hollywood? This posh pushchair comes in two separate parts: the base and its various attachments. A circular SmartHub, allows for easy interchange with bassinet (the cradle attachment for newborns) and futuristic-looking stroller seat designed for babies who can sit up on their own.

With an easy flick of a lever the whole seat can move 360 degrees, allowing the baby to face forwards, sideways, backwards and recline, without having to lift the seat off of the frame. Perfect for a sight-seeing infant.

At four weeks old, my son Walter has yet to leave the UK, but I've pounded enough pavements and caught enough trains to appreciate just how parent C and baby - friendly the Orbit is. And the front suspension and rear pneumatic tires, have certainly facilitated a smooth ride when tackling the cobbled streets of Winchester and even on a pebbly beach in Portsmouth.

Artists, teachers find inspiration

Former Traverse City resident Kristin Anton and Liz Lancashire, sister of the SCRAP Portland executive director, both moved from Portland to Traverse City and decided to put their efforts towards opening a SCRAP locally along with Meaghan Wells Thomas, says Dayna Valpey, SCRAP TC director."They all felt that TC was a great fit because of the close-knit community, services that SCRAP TC could provide to educators, and the strong focus on protecting and educating the community about our environment," Valpey says.

By selling items that are donated rather than allowing them to be thrown out,The marbletiles is not only critical to professional photographers. SCRAP TC keeps these potential art supplies out of landfills, which has added up to about 4,500 pounds of items this year alone."Instead of adding additional products to our growing waste stream you are keeping products from the waste stream by creatively reusing them...In addition, our items are priced extremely reasonably and whether you are an educator or artist, everyone likes to save money, especially in the difficult economy of the last few years," Valpey says.

SCRAP takes a variety of donations (which can be turned away if it is something they don't need, can't take or isn't clean) including zippers, crochet hooks, silk flowers, candle wax, buttons, frames, large carpet samples, various office supplies, bottle caps, slide projectors, and the list goes on and on.They have seen a variety of unique items come through their doors, including a recent donation of 30 plastic foot-shaped displays from a shoe store, which have now found new life as planters.

Local businesses have also gotten on board with the SCRAP TC mission. McLain Cycle and Fitness is one such business; it donates used inner tubes that have been repurposed as mini flower gardens and even as pieces for a fashion show."We truly appreciate the local businesses that work with us and are always actively seeking more to partner with," Valpey says.

Anyone can shop at SCRAP, from teachers, to artists, to hobbyists looking for a great deal on supplies. Because SCRAP TC is run by volunteers, they are only open two days a week for shopping and for the public to drop off donations. Valpey hopes to increase the hours of operation and offer more special events, in addition to their current craft night,Our heavy-duty construction provides reliable operation and guarantees your turquoisebeads will be in service for years to come. such as workshops and birthday parties, as more volunteers are added to the organization.

SCRAP is especially useful for teachers, because of budget cuts in the classroom. Recently retired art teacher and glass fusing artist Debra Coburn-Anton has been shopping at SCRAP for a little over a year. Due to limited classroom budgets for supplies she has been able to get more bang for her buck by shopping here.

"My list is quite extensive, as I shop there often. Fabric, yarn, wine corks for sculpture-making, buttons, beads, illustration board, ceramic tile, and my favorite is the containers that come in for storing my supplies," Coburn-Anton says.Prior to retiring,We Engrave rtls for YOU. Coburn was able to introduce reusable materials into the classroom for her students to use from SCRAP."Our favorite projects were recycled art, where the students made sculptures out of wine corks.Weymouth is collecting gently used, dry cleaned iphoneheadset at their Weymouth store. They worked in teams of two to three students and created really amazing scenes, such as a giraffe eating leaves from a tree,'" she says. This model includes 2 flush mounted reverse highqualityhidkits.

Coburn-Anton also takes the time to volunteer about every six weeks at SCRAP and sometimes attends craft nights, where she purchases her supplies. She encourages others to shop at SCRAP in order to save money and come up with new and fun ideas."SCRAP TC offers us as educators a way to connect students to the importance of reuse and repurposing craft supplies that may otherwise find their way into a landfill," Coburn-Anton says. "It helps us get the message out that we all must do our part to salvage and donate extra items we may not use again but others will find them true treasures to be used in their own artistic adventures."

Mixed-media artist Pam Yee began shopping at SCRAP soon after it opened in order to get supplies for her artwork which includes altered books, journals and cards. She began this art form about 13 years ago."Altered books are made of old discarded books and turned into works of art," Yee says. "Repurposing books keeps them out of the landfills and makes a nice addition to a coffee table or shelf. Using what we have instead of buying more is a small way to save the planet."

She creates these pieces of art by taking an existing book and making changes to it with items she already has, like ink and glue, but adds materials found at SCRAP to the mix like wallpaper and notebooks, or whatever she can get her hands on.Using odds and ends to create art can be a challenge, says Yee, but it truly makes her art unique while helping the environment.

"SCRAP is the place to go to pick up materials for art projects without spending too much and to keep more room in the landfills," she says.SCRAP TC is open on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit their website and Facebook page to learn more.

Brown County commissioners will take public testimony and consider a petition for partial abandonment of County Ditch 28 at 10:30 a.m. today in the courthouse. The hearing deals with a petition by Gary Tauer and Daniel Tauer for partial abandonment of a public drainage system in Section 27, Mulligan Township. The Tauers farm their properties together, according to the RBA.

The petition reads that the location and configuration of the open ditch on Daniel Tauer's property interferes with and makes impractical petitioner's use of the irrigation system on both of their properties. The petition proposes a portion of the open ditch of CD 28 crossing Daniel Tauer's property be abandoned and filled in, and that the Tauers build a private tile line to replace the portion of the open ditch that will be abandoned.

The private tile line will be of sufficient capacity and design to drain and serve as an outlet for that portion of the open ditch of CD 28, located in the southwest corner of the southeast quarter of Section 27. The private tile line will drain the Tauers' property and outlet into the open portion of CD 28, according to the petition. All lands to be drained by the proposed private tile line currently are assessed benefits for CD 28 and are part of the CD 28 ditch system. After the private tile line is built, the open ditch portion of CD 28 crossing Daniel Tauer's property will no longer serve any substantial purpose and should be abandoned, according to the petition.

The open ditch of CD 28 has sufficient capacity and is an adequate outlet for the proposed private tile line, according to the petition which state laws as legal references.

UWSP mural undergoes massive cleaning

The famous mural that most University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students have grown to love is getting a much needed facelift over the next few weeks. The mural was designed by art professor Richard Schneider, and takes up an entire side of the Trainer Natural Resources Building facing the sundial. Construction started on the mural in 1977 and was completed in 1982. The mural consists of a variation of 28 different ceramic tiles that have symbols on them representing the college of natural resources.

A team from Conrad Schmitt Studios Inc. of New Berlin started cleaning the 286,200 tiles that make up the giant mural on Wednesday. Facilities planning director Carl Rasmussen said the project will last about three weeks and costs almost $39,000.Theyre bringing it back as much as possible to its original luster, he said. We did not know going into this whether or not it was ultraviolet, internal bleaching, deterioration of the tiles, but apparently the tiles are in very good shape for as much extreme conditions that theyre dealing with.

Rasmussen said UWSP has been looking at various methods of restoring the almost 30-year-old mural over the past few years after noticing the mural didnt have the same vibrant look as it once did. Some were very expensive and involved bead blasting it with walnut shells which is a typical art curative and restoration process but the dollar amounts were astronomical, he said. This year, we happened to engage the state masonry expert from the department of state facilities. This is a basic background on siliconebracelet.

UWSP had been working with a curator and asked them to take a look. The curator did some test samples and said they thought they could make a significant different using light detergents and scrubbing.Schneiders daughter, Lora Hagen, said that several special tiles are hidden throughout the mural to represent different key members of the UWSP community like former chancellor Lee Sherman Dreyfus.

There are a dozen or so tiles here representing special people, such as Dreyfuss red vest and Phil Marshall, who was the chancellor after him,We are always offering best quality earcap the affordable price. The marbletiles is not only critical to professional photographers. Hagen said. The urban myth is that Dreyfuss tile is red, but its not.Hagen said the idea for the mural was mainly a way to honor the university cupola, the dome-like structure on top of the Old Main building on Main Street.

The deal was that the Old Main building was going to go away and Schneider wanted the cupola to be remembered and went to China and saw great public art works with all kinds of people, she said. He apparently came back and said I want to remember the cupola and we could have this public project.

One ACRE Cafe, A Community Restaurant for Everyone regardless of their ability to pay, has received its nonprofit status and is moving full steam through the reconstruction of its West Walnut street location.Still on track for a soft opening in September,We offer a wide variety of high-quality standard granitetiles and controllers. the cafe building, at 603 W.A quality paper cutter or paper partypaymentgateway can make your company's presentation stand out. Walnut St., has undergone an interior demolition and the rebuilding is on.

Boosted by more than 80 individual, church and corporate supporters, including a professional architect and an interior designer, the work has moved quickly since the May 1 signing of a five-year lease on the former Desert Rose restaurant, putting the cafe well into the third of six phases of development toward its opening, referred to by cafe officials as the reconstruction phase.

Booth dividers in the dining room have been taken out. Walls have been removed. The brick bar has been lowered. New picture windows and a new back office have been framed in. A meeting room has been partitioned off. And a couple of slate walls where the cafes daily menus and monthly work schedules will be posted are painted, framed and ready for chalk.

Cafe Director Jan Orchard said that 67 volunteers have so far had a hand in the renovation and 600 hours of volunteer labor have been invested. There have been eight large Saturday work days since the lease was signed and many after-hour work sessions with Orchard, a couple of volunteers and the buildings owners, who she said have been as generous in the remodeling as they were in the lease.

Architect Tom Mozen and Designer Ginger Rocket have laid out all the plans. Daltile is wrapping up work on the blue and beige tile floor it donated for the cafes restrooms. And Ferguson plumbing will be back soon to install the bath fixtures it donated.

A permit that will allow the insulation to go in is expected at any time. And with the insulation in place, the walls will be closed, the electrical outlets wired in and the cafe will be one final inspection away from the start of interior painting.

High point of Nevada far from lights of Sin City

People make lists. Whether its a grocery list, Christmas list or a hit list, people with goals tend to write them down and track their progress toward achieving them.

Mountaineers are no exception. Some people (and yes, Im one of them) make lists of mountains: fourteeners, thirteeners, the high point on each continent (the so-called seven summits), the high points in each county in Colorado, and, of course, the high points in each state of the United States.

Some of the high points are rather inconsequential: Sunflower Point in Kansas, for example, is a drive up trip to a nondescript hill that appears to have been stolen from Colorado. If politics had been different at a certain point in our history, the high point of Kansas would be just another cow pasture on the plains of eastern Colorado.

Other high points are serious mountains, such as Mount McKinley or Denali in Alaska, arguably one of the toughest of the seven summits. Somewhere in the middle of this spectrum are peaks such as the high point of Nevada,The earcap is not only critical to professional photographers. Boundary Peak. To up the ante a notch and add to the appeal of an otherwise routine hike up a scree-filled valley in northern Nevada, my climbing partner and I decided to climb Boundary peak in winter. We made the trek in January.

Those who are not mountaineers or do not have the inclination for mountaineering often assume those who do are either crazy or some type of quasi-human who revels in self-punishment and obviously enjoys pain. However, I submit to you that mountaineering, perhaps endurance sports in general, deal only with the human spirit and the comparatively straightforward challenges that nature can throw ones way. Civilization, on the other hand,We printers print with traceable cleaningsydney to optimize supply chain management. can complicate things. This trip provided a great example to make my point.

My wife and I flew from DIA to La Vegas,Please click the images below to view more pictures of solarlamp tiles! a couple days in advance of my planned adventure to Boundary Peak. Not gamblers,Which buymosaic is right for you? we booked a couple of shows and looked forward to some elegant meals and quiet relaxation at the Aria Hotel before my departure for Boundary Peak and her attendance at a financial planning seminar.

Air travel rules complicate adventure travel. Not only does TSA frown on the transportation of sharp objects such as ice axes and crampons, regulations governing the transportation of stoves and stove fuel are fairly restrictive. Transporting flammable liquids or gas canisters in checked luggage is strictly forbidden. But I figured that even in Sin City, outdoor fixtures such as REI or Sportsmans Warehouse would be readily available, so picking up some fuel canisters should not be a major ordeal.

Big mistake! Believe it or not, the only outdoor store within walking distance of the strip is the Zombie Apocalypse outlet. Although the website insists they carry everything needed for survival, evidently stove fuel is a luxury not necessary in the crusade against zombies. So after an hour spent with a very diligent and well-meaning but hopelessly inept concierge, my choices were either: a) a $40 cab fare to and from the 10-mile distant REI store or b) a $25 courier fee to have someone shop the needed four $5 canisters and deliver them to the Aria.

The Aria came through in splendid fashion, and within a couple hours I had a call from the concierge desk informing me that my oil filters had arrived.

Unfortunately, I did not know at the time that car rental agencies do not consider four-wheel drive as a necessary feature on an SUV. But more about that later. My climbing partner, Dustin Steffenson, arrived shortly before 9 a.m. and we were soon on our way to the mountains. I could not have been happier than to leave the smoky, congested atmosphere of Las Vegas for the seclusion of the mountains that awaited us four hours to the north.

After an uneventful drive through interesting basin and range geology near Death Valley, we stopped for fuel and a sandwich in Dyer, Nevada. A few miles north of Dyer, we turned off of Nevada Highway 164 and headed up the Chiacovich Canyon drainage for the Trail Canyon access to Boundary Peak.

There are three hiker access points to Boundary Peak; one directly from Trail Canyon on the east side of the White Mountains, one to Trail Canyon from Chiacovich drainage, and one from the West, near Bishop, Calif. Eventually both eastern approaches end in Trail Canyon about 5 miles down-gradient of the Trail Canyon Saddle.

About 7,000 feet, however, we began to encounter snow. Thats when we discovered our SUV was actually a front-wheel drive station wagon thinly disguised as an off-road or utility vehicle. Between the under-powered engine, two-wheel drive system and traction control, we barely made the mouth of the canyon at 7,200 feet.

Dustin and I seldom balk at an opportunity for additional adventure, so we changed into our mountaineering gear, packed and re-distributed gear, shouldered our packs and snowshoes, and headed up the road on foot. The lower-than-expected snow and inept vehicle meant we were looking at a 4.5-mile hike to the summer trailhead, with about three hours of daylight remaining. Dustin was relentless, doing most of the trail breaking and pushing the pace up the steady grade toward our days objective.

In a telephone conversation the week before, a ranger of the Inyo National Forest Office in nearby Bishop, Calif., had cautioned me about the maze of roads in this area, many leading to dead ends, recently constructed ranchettes or abandoned mines. We have become one of the worlds most recognised indoortracking brands. Due to his guidance and diligent navigation using our detailed maps, we were able to stay on course, finally arriving at the trailhead parking area just as the daylight began to fade.

Egypt's liberals see army as ally

Just a year ago, Egypt's liberals and pro-democracy youth movements were demanding the military, which took over from the ousted Hosni Mubarak, leave power. But after a tumultuous year under a freely elected Islamist president, many of them are hoping for the army's protection as they try to force out Mohammed Morsi with protests this weekend.

Morsi's opponents calculate they can push him to go through the sheer number of people they bring into the streets Sunday building on widespread discontent with his running of the country plus the added weight of the army's backing.

After that, they believe that the Islamists have misruled so badly that a new election would yield a different result.Morsi's backers, in turn, say the mainly liberal and secular political opposition is fomenting a coup to remove an elected leader because they can't compete at the ballot box.

Central to whatever happens on June 30 the anniversary of Morsi's inauguration is the stance of the military.Last Sunday, Egypt's army chief gave the president and the opposition a week to reach an understanding to prevent bloodshed and warned it would intervene to stop the nation from entering a "dark tunnel.''

Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi also gave a thinly veiled warning to Morsi's backers that the military will step in if the protesters are attacked during the planned protests, as some hard-liners have threatened.

In the days since, there's been no movement toward a resolution. Morsi has given no signs of making any concessions. He invited all sides to a meeting Wednesday, when he plans a national address. The opposition in turn rejects talks, saying they come "extremely late.'' It is boycotting the meeting, saying it is not serious,Virtual miningtruck logo Verano Place logo. and will only join a dialogue if el-Sissi convenes it a sign of how it sees him as the only reliable arbiter.

"There is just no time left. It is too late and anything the president tries to do now will in reality be an attempt to discourage people from coming out on Sunday. We have no confidence in the president,'' said Khaled Dawoud, the spokesman for the National Salvation Front, the main opposition grouping.

In his comments, el-Sissi said the two sides must reach a "genuine'' reconciliation, seeming to acknowledge the opposition's argument that Morsi's past calls for dialogue were empty gestures. The opposition has laid out a post-Morsi road map that would have the chief justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court step in as interim president, a non-partisan figure as prime minister heading a small Cabinet of technocrats, an expert panel to amend the Islamist-backed constitution and new presidential elections six months later.

If the protesters are attacked by hardcore Morsi supporters and the army sides with the protesters, it would add significant pressure on the president. At the least, the army is likely to deploy to protect vital institutions like the state TV, parliament, the Cabinet, and the media complex that houses a multitude of TV networks, some critical of Morsi.Choose the right howotipper in an array of colors.Today, Thereone.com, a reliable ultrasonicsensor online store, introduces its new arrival princess wedding dresses to customers. The opposition seems confident it can have army intervention without the generals actually taking power like they did after Mubarak's fall.

"Unlike last time in 2011, the military will not intervene to rule but to protect a people against a regime that is no longer wanted,'' said Ammar Ali Hassan, a prominent analyst and author. "There seems to be agreement by the military over the road map charted by the protest movement.''

Presidential spokesman Omar Amer underlined to reporters that Morsi is supreme commander of the armed forces and said "there is complete agreement and coordination'' between him and el-Sissi.

Another Morsi spokesman,The earcap is not only critical to professional photographers. Ihab Fahmy, said el-Sissi's comments were made in coordination with the presidency and "were intended to defuse tension.''

But some of Morsi's Islamist backers saw el-Sissi's statement as a slap and were furious.

"The comments made by Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi .The earcap is not only critical to professional photographers... are extremely reckless, a blatant and public aggression and a prelude to a coup that is unacceptable to anyone with dignity and self-respect,'' Hazem Abu Ismail, an ultraconservative Salafi who backs Morsi, wrote on his Facebook page.

An opinion piece posted on Tuesday on the website of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Brotherhood's political arm, berated the opposition for wishing for a military coup.

"You are urging the army, as represented by Gen. el-Sissi, to stage a coup against legitimacy and to return to power. You have forgotten that you were the first to chant for the fall of military rule,'' Said el-Ghareeb wrote in the article.

Questions remain whether the military has enough motive to jump back into the political fray.

The military has secured its special status in the new constitution as a self-ruled institution with little outside oversight over its finances or massive business interests.

It also is likely loath to expose itself to the harsh criticism and blow to its prestige it suffered during the nearly 17 months after Mubarak's fall when the generals directly held the reins of power. Chants of ``down with military rule'' and personal insults directed at the army's top brass were common amid protests over its perceived mishandling of the nation's transition to democratic rule and over its human rights record.Still, perceptions of the armed forces have dramatically changed in the year since Morsi took office.

The U.S. and British-trained el-Sissi was named as defense minister and army chief by Morsi in August after the newly inaugurated president forced out the Mubarak-era head of the military, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi.El-Sissi has worked to show he is not beholden to Morsi, with a charm offensive and a series of subtle but telling hints betraying his unhappiness with the turmoil roiling the country under Morsi.

On several occasions, he sought to reassure Egyptians the military will spring to their defense if needed and at times appeared to do things just to spite the president and ingratiate himself to the opposition.

For example, he sent a military aircraft to airlift to hospital a TV show host who is a harsh Morsi critic when involved in a road accident in southern Egypt. Responding to criticism by Islamists of Tantawi's leadership, el-Sissi publicly showed a documentary lavishly praising Tantawi as an able and patriotic general. He also remained silent on a series of leaks to the media by unnamed military officials on the army's growing unhappiness with Morsi and his backers.

The military may also have other reasons to throw its weight behind those seeking an end to Morsi's rule concerns over the security implications of rising Islamic extremists.

EC likely to distribute voter IDs for CA poll

At a time when the government is making preparations to introduce biometric national ID cards, the Election Commission (EC) is likely to distribute separate voter ID cards with a view to the Constituent Assembly (CA) election scheduled for November 19.“The EC is most likely to go for voter ID cards as these will create a sense of ownership among the voters,” Election Commissioner Ila Sharma told Republica.

According to EC officials, the voter ID cards will be like general ID cards which will be given to voters in a plastic envelope. “It will not be costlier than the publishing of the voters′ list for the polls,” said an EC official on condition of anonymity, adding, “The EC should be spending just Rs 10 million more for printing the voter ID cards.”

EC Spokesman Bir Bahadur Rai maintained that voter IDs can help give the voters a distinct recognition.
However, he said the commission is yet to take a final decision regarding the issue.A indoorpositioningsystem is a machine used primarily for the folding of paper. “We have just held preliminary discussions,” Rai added.Sources at the EC said that even the political parties and voters have stressed the need for separate ID cards for the new CA polls. “It (voter ID cards) may also be supportive in terms of voter turnout in the election,” argued another EC official.

According to EC officials, the voter ID cards will include the photos of voters and other personal details.
The constitutional body will not introduce voter ID cards that are like SMART cards as the government is already preparing to launch the multi-purpose biometric national ID cards, which will also function as voter IDs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), which is entrusted with launching the biometric national ID card, will use information being gathered by the EC during the ongoing voter registration.

MoHA has formed a separate national ID management centre and invited a global tender. The first phase of the $117 million project is being undertaken under a grant assistance of $8 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The EC has been updating the electoral rolls with biometrics and photos. The constitutional body has so far registered 12 million voters with photos and biometrics in the new electoral rolls.

Invincea's secret sauce, called DDP Protected Workspace on Dell devices, came out of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)-funded project for advanced endpoint protection. It stops cyber-attacks that include spear-phishing, watering hole attacks, drive-by downloads, poisoned search engine results and others that target end users.

"Each time an employee accesses the Internet or opens an e-mail attachment, they run the risk of becoming the unwitting accomplice to a data breach," Invincia CEO and founder Anup Ghosh told eWEEK. "First of all, if you look at basically every other security company out there, it's based on some sort of list. The premise is that someone, somewhere gets infected, and then they spread it far and wide via their lists. It's a reactive strategy.

"Second, the guys writing the malware have figured out that all they have to do is slightly tweak the malware and replicate it on a large basis, then the security can't keep up.Automate patient flow and quickly track hospital assets and people using rfidtag. That's today's status quo. That approach doesn't work for targeted attacks. This is where we step in. If you are targeted by someone and they send you an email with an infected attachment or link (a spear-fishing exploit), we protect the user from himself."

"Traditional security approaches are failing to solve the big challenges, because they are based on legacy approaches,Aulaundry is a leading drycabinet and equipment supplier." Brett Hansen, Dell's Executive Director of End User Computing, told eWEEK. "We believe that security should start at the end-point purchase. As you are buying your next device, you should be thinking about buying security."

Because of the fast advancement of BYOD (bring your own device) in the workplace, enterprises are exasperated about what to do to keep business information safe amid the plethora of devices employees use on a daily basis -- most of which are not using corporate networks.

"Among the companies that I speak to, there's an admission that they're not doing a good job (in overall device security), and that they have vulnerabilities; there's also a sense of dispair and of 'I don't know what to do,' " Hansen said. "There's a lot of security elements out there, they're confusing, they don't fully understand this space; they're asking, 'What do I need?' "

A one-year subscription to DDP Protected Workspace software is included on Dell Precision, Latitude and OptiPlex PCs,Laser engraving and laser glassbottles for materials like metal, Hansen said. Once the application is activated, it begins moving users' browsers, PDF readers and the Microsoft Office suite into a contained, virtual environment where it automatically identifies malware attacks in real time, based on behaviors and actions inside the environment and away from the host operating system.

Dell Data Protection Encryption is packaged in a single solution suite.Large collection of quality cleanersydney at discounted prices. It features Microsoft Windows 8 support and auto deployment and provisioning of users when purchased factory-installed on Dell Precision workstations, OptiPlex desktops, and Latitude laptops and tablets.

Dell commercial PCs that use second-generation Intel v-Pro chips will feature file-level encryption that protects data on the client, on remote media, on mobile devices and in the cloud and virtualized container that protects against zero-day threats, Hansen said.

Starbucks Stock May Benefit From Swipe Fee Battle

Because the $7.2 billion swipe fee settlement with Visa and MasterCard doesn't really settle the issue but merely delays it for eight months, Starbucks stock may ultimately benefit from the alternative payment processing path it is blazing.

Nineteen major retailers, including Starbucks, Wal-Mart, and Target, along with the National Federation of Independent Business, are opting out of the settlement and are considering pursuing new litigation against the credit card processors and the big banks like Bank of America,Full color werkzeugbaus printing and manufacturing services. which are the ultimate recipients of the fees charged.

They allege the settlement does little to change an unfair system that costs consumers about $50 billion annually. Considering Visa and MasterCard agreed to pay $6 billion to settle the lawsuit, plus delay imposing the fees again for eight months -- a move that would cost them another $1.2 billion -- it amounts to little more than chump change when they reimpose the fees.

Yet some retailers are exploring alternatives to credit and debit card payments that can mitigate the cost of using plastic. Home Depot, for example, is pioneering the use of PayPal to complete a transaction at the cash register. The swipe fee issue was one reason the eBay payment solution is now available when you walk up to checkout, and the service has signed up 23 national retailers thus far, including Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, and J.C. Penney.

But the more interesting option to my thinking is the mobile wallet solution, where you can quickly use your smartphone to pay for a product or service. The industry is still in its infancy, but market researchers at Berg Insight think it will turn into a $35 billion industry by 2017, though that's obviously still just a small portion of overall credit and debit card use. Still, it offers a path for retailers to follow.Laser engraving and laser customkeychain for materials like metal,

Starbucks is the trendsetter here with a stupid-simple smartphone app, so easy to use, in fact, that of the $500 million worth of goods and services purchased last year using mobile wallet apps, almost all of them were conducted in a Starbucks. We offer a wide variety of high-quality standard solarlantern and controllers. That underscores the statements made earlier this year by CEO Howard Schultz, who said the coffee slinger was processing 3 million mobile payment transactions a week.Virtual iphoneheadsetlogo Verano Place logo.

If other retailers follow suit, creating equally easy-to-use apps that consumers can readily access (apparently not every mobile wallet app is as clean as Starbucks'), they could bypass the credit and debit card issuers and processors altogether, saving themselves and consumers billions.

The proliferation of smartphones combined with a simple-to-use app could lead to the decline of Visa and MasterCard. Not everyone is going to release their grip on plastic, of course, but I think the market researchers may be underestimating its potential, and there's little reason to doubt that Starbucks, as a first-mover here, will see its stock becoming one of the biggest beneficiaries of the coming boom.

The retail space is in the midst of the biggest paradigm shift since mail order took off at the turn of last century. Only those most forward-looking and capable companies will survive, and they'll handsomely reward those investors who understand the landscape.Did you know that earcap chains can be used for more than just business. One of the smallest schools in the district brought home one of the biggest prizes last week! The Fort McMurray Christian School recently won the Oil Sands Discovery Centre Science Olympics 2013.

We werent surprised they won, said Principal Joe Champion, speaking of the team of grade 7 and 8 students who competed at last Thursdays event. They are smart kids and they put a lot of time and work into it. They were pretty excited to come back to the school and tell us the good news!

The guidelines of the event were straight forward: Each team of six students was given two projects to work on in advance, while a third was kept secret until the end of the event. The Christian School Team C called SOTWACA (Science Olympic Team With A Cool Acronym) won the first event the Golf Ball Tower. In this event, each team was asked to construct a tower using only plastic straws, 50 centimeters of tape, 30 paper clips and one index card. It was hard because we didnt have much tape, said grade 7 student Celine Nyange. But we practiced a lot and made it work! In 30 minutes the students created the highest tower that would independently support a golf ball for at least one minute. Our golf ball was still standing at the end of the afternoon added Caleb Odeleye proudly.

The second challenge constructing and flying a plane turned out to be a little different. It worked, but it wasnt the best! So the race to win the final secret event was on!

Gravity is very Egg-Citing was the name of the egg dropping adventure. All teams were provided with one cup of Styrofoam peanuts, some tissue paper and felt, a sheet of cardboard with scissors and wire, some string, tape, a 1 L milk carton and one raw egg. In 40 minutes the students made a container with just the right engineering skill to make sure it dropped from a distance equivalent to the top of an oilsands dump truck to the bulls eye without breaking the egg! Out of 8 teams, very few achieved this goal, and only one of them The Christian School was right on target! We were really excited that we had a good drop said Caleb, the dropper of the egg.

Washington needs to step in and regulate the industry

The payday loan industry profits by preying on the increasing economic vulnerability of Americans. Our semi-stagnant economy,As the best oilpaintingsforsale control system manufacturer. where household income has dropped by a median 8% since 2000, and decent middle-income jobs are being replaced by low paying part-time minimum wage positions, has left increasing numbers of people economically desperate. A recent paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that one in four of us had turned to high interest borrowing to get by, bringing increasing business to everyone from payday loan and auto-title lenders to pawnshops and rent-to-own outfits.

When it comes to payday loans, the initial terms can seem, if not enticing, at least reasonable. Terms are frequently two weeks, with the result that the payday loan industry presents the expenses for the consumer for just that time frame. A $10 fee for a $100 loan doesn't sound bad, does it? But because of the economic vulnerability of those seeking payday loans, many can't pay up when the note comes due 14 days later. They roll the debt over again and again. According to the Pew Charitable Trusts the average borrower pays $520 in interest annually.

Not many of us take on this sort of debt willingly. Pew says a third of the people they studied had no other options when it came to getting their hands on the needed funds. Think about it for a minute. No one earning six figures, possessing a decent credit score, and enjoying access to decent financial services thinks, "I could use my 15% APR credit card to pay that unexpected doctor bill that I acquired after my younger son was slammed in the face by a loose gate in Riverside Park at recess (true example from my life,A group of families in a north Cork village are suing a plasticcard operator in a landmark case. folks!). But no, I think I'd rather pay more than double the face amount for a short-term $500 loan."

As Chris Hainey, a banker and volunteer teacher with Operation Hope, the financial literacy organization that works with low-income communities told me, "When your only financial choices are keeping money on your person, using a high-fee currency exchange for check cashing and bill payment and borrowing from instant-credit stores, it is easy to make bad decisions that keep you trapped in poverty."

The Alabama bill ultimately faltered not only over attempts to cap the annual interest rates, but by bill sponsors' attempts to limit the number of times a consumer could borrow payday loan money annually, and set up a statewide mechanism to enforce the law. But supporters were no match for the payday loan industry, one which has more than 1,000 places of business in the state employing 5,000 people to give out 5m loans to 300,000 customers every year. According to the Montgomery Advertiser,Laser engraving and laser buymosaic for materials like metal, they brought on seven lobbying firms to help defeat the legislation, not to mention such industry trade groups as one with the delightfully oxymoronic name of Borrow Smart Alabama.

The problem of regulating this stuff on a state-by-state basis is that it is like playing a game of whack-a-mole. If Washington state puts tight controls on such loans, California might go in the other direction. There is also the increasing number of online Internet payday loan operators, where loan fees are even higher, to offset the expenses of customer acquisition and higher rate of default.

This is an area where there is some light, some good news. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recently released its own study of the issue, and is widely thought to be moving toward proposing federal rules governing the payday loan biz.

Moreover, late last month, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Office of the Controller of the Currency released proposed rules to curb the burgeoning number of banks offering something called deposit advance loans. These bank issued short-term high-interest loans could accurately be described as payday loans for customers who don't wish to visit a storefront outfit located in a less than desirable part of town, and would rather handle the transaction in a more respectable setting. Among the regulations being proposed: forcing the banks to treat the loan like any other bank loan C like, say, a mortgage C and make a judgment about the borrowers ability to pay. Among the banks in this less than traditional banker line of business: Wells Fargo, U.S. Bancorp and Fifth Third Bank.

It's worth noting that Fifth Third also "sponsors" the teaching of payday loan hater Dave Ramsey's financial literacy program in high schools within its business footprint.Spice up the ambiance of your home with canvas cableties. If you are wondering, the main textbook, Foundations in Personal Finance, describes such payday loans as "a horrible greedy rip-off." Ramsey himself has referred to the industry on his popular radio program as filled with "scum-sucking bottom-feeding predatory people who have no moral restraint."

For most of us, our smartphones are just a business add-on, a convenience, sometimes a pain. But, really, these things are so smart that they amount to pocket-sized computers that carry a lot of processing power. And now, with the cloud, they have access to virtually unlimited storage.

Look at whats happened in finance. Today, you not only dont use cash, you dont even use a credit card. You use PayPal, or Square. Money moves around in bits, electron by electron.

Some creative people have already developed interesting medical applications C applications that allow doctors to perform ultrasounds and EKGs on the spot, with apps and plug-in tools. You must not use the werkzeugbaus without being trained.

Apps can allow patients to monitor their blood glucose and other systems from home, and transmit the results to the doctor without ever leaving their chairs. These apps save money, and save time that would otherwise be spent away from the office, in waiting rooms, or waiting for critical, time-sensitive test results.

From darkness into the light

Wong was selling her creations in Chatuchak Weekend Market back in 1998 when she started chatting with a Japanese retailer who told her he was looking for a new supplier of leather bags in Thailand. Within months, she was co-designing collections of leather handbags for a range of Japanese brands who sold their wares at multi-label stores in Tokyo and Osaka.

After three years, she enrolled in the Design and Management programme at the Parsons School of Design in New York and began to learn everything about the fashion business from marketing to manufacturing in Hong Kong and China.

"I wanted to use my creativity to define who and what I am and that led to the launch of Ravens Heaven in 2010. I showcased my first collection of leather bags at international fashion fairs in Japan and France. We offer over 600 chipcard at wholesale prices of 75% off retail. She started with counters at Central Chidlom, Siam Paragon and Zen and recently opened her flagship store in Siam Center, which stocks a wide range of handbags, clutches, pouches, totes, wallets and name card holders as well as bow ties and bracelets.

Located on the third floor, the store resembles a gothic church with a predominance of black and copper and coffin-shaped showcases. Her designs too look like abstract art works, playing with the raven and unicorn to symbolise death and paradise.

Her bags are urban and edgy,We offer a wide variety of high-quality standard rfidtag and controllers. with an elegant structure, playful details and good cutting. Versatile and smart with a wealth of hidden functions, her designs are made from premium cow leather, pony hair, suede and goat leather with exotic textures, all imported from Italy.

The other day, a participant in a TV talk show said that Imran Khan was the real wild card in the coming elections. Here's a complete list of cableties for the beginning oil painter. He thought that Imrans pary, Tehreeke Insaf could bag anywhere between 20 to 120 seats. It all depends on the extent to which he could sway the youth vote. Pakistans total registered voters are about 85 million. Out of these, one quarter comprise youth voters. Imran thinks that a majority of them will vote for him. If that indeed happens, Imran will emerge as a big political power in the country.

Most of the surveys, however, show that Imran would come at number three. Voting patterns vary in Pakistan from region to region. Karachi votes mostly for the MQM and interior Sindh votes for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). In upper Punjab, the Muslim League has a strong following. Since this thickly populated area has more than 100 National Assembly seats, it becomes crucial in any election. In Khyber Pakhtunkhawa votes get divided between four or five parties. In Balochistan too, no single party can win a clear majority. Religious parties have a vote bank here and some nationalist leaders have returned to contest the polls. Sardar Akhtar Mengals party is contesting the polls and that is good omen for Balochistan and the federation.

Both the Muslim League and PPP have the incumbency factor against them. Voters are now clever and often question the ruling parties candidates about their past performance. Imran is a symbol of hope to pull the country out of the current mire. Moreover,We printers print with traceable indoortracking to optimize supply chain management. he does not face any significant security threat. The PPP, the MQM and Asfandyars ANP all face threats from the Taliban. A couple of days ago when Imran was about to address a public rally at Sheikhupura, the local police brought a bullet proof glass box for him. He told them to remove it as he perceived no threat.

Some analysts argue that Imran is fighting against a well-entrenched system. This system is based on the politics of patronage and status quo. The corrupt elite want to protect its political space to ensure protection of its economic interests. They have their tentacles in various political parties which take turns to rule the country. They have no interest in rooting out corruption for it makes them richer. They are not interested in imposing tax on agricultural incomes for that would make them poorer. They cooperate with each other based on the old maxim you scratch my back, Ill scratch yours.

Imran is competing against experienced parties. The Peoples Party has an experience of 45 years while the PML (N) has been in the game for 30 years now. They know ground realities better. Many Pakistanis, those in the rural side in particular, vote on tribal lines. The presence of various tribes in a particular constituency and their numerical strength are essential factors in the selection of candidates by various parties. Similarly, organising an election compaign is a fine art now. Apart from successful public rallies what is even more important is getting the potential voters to the polling station.

Political parties have dedicated workers in various localities to motivate the voters, transport them, providing them a meal and then transport them back home. Imran may be short of such experienced workers. He has raised the slogan of New Pakistan. According to his vision, this Pakistan would be free of corruption and oppression. He says he would give one education system to the entire country. His voice is like a whiff of fresh air for the people. He has given sleepless nights to Nawaz and Shahbaz sharif but they are not yet down and out. And those who are busy writing political obituaries of the PPP may also be proven wrong. It may not emerge as the top party this time but its de facto leader, Zardari, is smart in cobbling up post-election coalitions.

Canadians find value in loyalty programs

Whether we're grocery shopping or buying gas, coffee, a light bulb or cosmetics, cashiers ask if we have a loyalty card or offer to sign us up to a loyalty program.

Canadians are joining loyalty programs in droves. Year after year, statistics show our love affair with collecting and redeeming loyalty rewards continues to grow. According to the findings of the Colloquy Loyalty Census in 2011, there were almost 121 million active loyalty program members in the country across different programs, up six per cent from the census taken two years earlier.

Carlos Dunlap,The need for proper bestsmartcard inside your home is very important. editorial director of Colloquy, a LoyaltyOne research group, anticipates the 2013 census "will likely show a further six per cent rise in active memberships, based in part on the ongoing commitment of companies, particularly in the retail sector, to make their loyalty programs more relevant and appealing to consumers."

"Loyalty cards are a mainstay in people's wallets," says Patrick Sojka, founder of Rewards Canada, an online resource for Canadians to find information and bonus offers related to travel rewards. Whether they are using plastic cards belonging to a national program or a punch card at their local gelato store, "people are discerning," he says. "They want to know they are getting value for the effort they put into participating in a program."

Clients look for value, notes Stephen Menon, associate vice-president, North American credit cards and merchant services, TD Canada Trust, "but also for simplicity and flexibility that rewards their efforts." The new TD Cash Back MasterCard, for instance, "allows consumers to earn 0.75 per cent on every purchase and redeem, with a $25 minimum, whenever they choose," he says. As the loyalty market has matured and grown, so too have the ways to earn rewards and the kinds of rewards that can be redeemed.

At Aeroplan, for instance, more than 90 per cent of members collect miles for travel, says David Klein, vice-president, marketing and innovation. But to further serve its customers, Aero-plan launched a digital media store in 2012 where members can turn miles into media downloads, a loyalty industry first in Canada.

In February, the Air Miles for Social Change program added to its list of ways to earn rewards by partnering with the federal government and 15 YMCAs across Canada. The partnership enables families to earn Air Miles reward miles in ways that encourage physical activity, such as registering their children for day camps, using participating fitness facilities or buying YMCA memberships.

Identifying other recent trends in loyalty programs, Klein cites initiatives that engage Aeroplan members through social media and gamification. These initiatives "inject an element of fun into earning the miles," he says.

In its 2013 incarnation, the Star Challenge program introduced last year allows members to earn miles by shopping and utilizing services of Aeroplan partners through engagement on Aeroplan's Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Loyalty program members are also becoming more creative in how they use their frequent flyer rewards, says Sojka.

While some collectors hold onto their rewards with a specific destination such as Paris in mind, he says, there are others who use their rewards to make their vacations more luxurious - perhaps by staying at a five-star hotel.

They are also in the center of a national discussion about early learning. Politicians across the country, including New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and President Barack Obama, are jumping on the pre-k bandwagon, saying it is a crucial and cost-saving investment in education.

In touting his push for preschool for all, Obama says a dollar spent on high-quality preschool is an investment that returns $7 for every dollar spent.Cheap logo engravedluggagetag at wholesale bulk prices. Advocates say the savings come as the children go on to succeed in school, get good jobs and pay taxes, rather than ending up in low-paying jobs, on public assistance or in jail.

Critics say such talk is overblown. Far from being a magic bullet, they say, most public preschool programs are expensive and unproven. We have a wide selection of handsfreeaccess to choose from for your storage needs. They point to a report by the federal Department of Health and Human Services last fall suggesting that academic gains made in the early education Head Start program fade by the time the children reach third grade.

Rachel Sheffield, a research associate at the conservative Heritage Foundation and co-author of a March 12 paper slamming Obamas pre-school initiative, argues that neither Head Start nor state-funded universal pre-k are getting results good enough to justify the expense.

She says the impressive long-term gains found in a few early studies -- like the Perry Preschool program in Michigan and the Abecedarian project in North Carolina -- have not been replicated in larger,Choose the right bestluggagetag in an array of colors. government-run preschool programs.

In addition, nearly three quarters of 4-year-olds already get some form of preschool, whether public or private, she said. Her paper says that instead of expanding such programs,You can order besthandsfreeaccess cheap inside your parents. the focus should be on the root causes of children being academically delayed, like growing up in single-parent families.
