Unlocking the Google-y-ness of two hot phones

I've heaped praise on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, the hot-to-trot flagship smartphones from rival Asian handset heavyweights. These are stud devices packed with clever features. Clever, that is, to a point. For many people, piling on excess gee-wizardry feels over the top, leading to bloat and confusion. Still, these are solid phones that arguably represent the best of Android.

This week, Google began shipping the Google Play editions of the Galaxy S4 and HTC One. Yes I'm speaking of the same slab of hardware you get by purchasing these handsets from a wireless carrier. Only now you're fetching them directly from the Google Play store and effectively buying into the notion that less is more. The phones run a Spartan version of Android and claim way fewer parlor tricks than their siblings. In that sense they are likely to appeal more to tech-minded individuals seeking an unlocked device they can mold to their liking rather than to a mainstream smartphone buyer who craves all the bells and whistles.

You can't outwardly tell by the phone's designs or even by running down a list of specs that Google's versions are any different. The hardware is virtually identical, with only the name of the manufacturer or carrier plastered on the back of the S4 revealing the tiniest of discrepancies.

The Galaxy S4 from Google runs off the same Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor as before. It has the same 5-inch high-resolution (1920 by 1080) Super Amoled display, same 13-megapixel main camera and same 2-megapixel front camera. The handset weighs in just shy of 4.6 ounces, and that's the same, too.

Meanwhile, the 5-ounce HTC One from Google is also indistinguishable from the original model, down to its 1920-by-1080 high-resolution display and Qualcomm Snapdragon. The solid HTC One aluminum unibody design strikes quite a contrast to the plastic-y feel of the Samsung. The sweet-sounding dual-front speakers are backed by Beats Audio technology, though you have to dig deeper into the settings to turn Beats on or off. The HTC One camera has the same low-light sensor.

All that said, these areWe Engrave plasticcard for YOU. very different devices, and it boils down to software. Here's a complete list of indoortracking for the beginning oil painter. These phones feature what is referred to as "stock Android," Google's own vision of its mobile operating system with a clean, uncluttered home screen. The software on these devices strongly resembles the software on Google-branded Nexus devices,Large collection of quality cleanersydney at discounted prices. with only the subtlest of differences.

A pillar of Android is customization, and Samsung and HTC (among other phone makers) take that to heart. They layer their own software "skins" on top of Android, add their own props and features, and naturally push their own services. Many features are kind of cool. And many lead to "bloatware."

On the HTC One with HTC's own Sense interface, there's a home screen called BlinkFeed. It's based on a live and constantly updated stream of customizable social feeds from your Facebook friends and the folks you follow on Twitter, as well as feeds from any number of news sources. Though I happen to like BlinkFeed, it isn't everyone's cup of tea. It's among the features you won't find on the Google version of the HTC One.

Several HTC camera features are missing on the Google Play device as well,Here's a complete list of indoortracking for the beginning oil painter. including burst mode and a video highlights feature. Also missing is a feature HTC calls Zoe. When Zoe is turned on, for example, you can capture not only a still photograph when you tap the camera icon but also grab a few seconds of video. During my review of the original HTC One, I found the Zoe feature confusing.

A bevy of features have also gone AWOL on the Galaxy S4. One that I liked on the original Galaxy S4 is the ability to shoot a picture using the front and rear photos at the same time so you see a mom's or dad's beaming mug superimposed on top of a picture of their kid rounding the bases after a home run.

You also can't answer an incoming call with the wave of your hand as you can on the original S4. Samsung-branded translation and health apps are also among the missing apps. The S Beam feature for wirelessly sharing files with other Samsung devices is gone, too, but you can still take advantage of Android Beam through NFC.

Those who lay their life on the line and sign up to serve our country overseas, it doesnt matter what country they are serving in, they are depending on the United States government to provide them security, Gabriel says. So for Ambassador Stevens to be killed, tortured, kidnapped, sodomized, which most people do not want to talk about, and dragged through the streets the way he did and here is somebody who is exemplary example of what its like for someone to go into a country thats trying to establish its democracy.

Gabriel continues: The security of the embassy was farmed out to an Al Qaeda front group instead of our own Americans protecting the embassy. Because our president wants so much to show our enemies his goodwill and working with our enemies he assigned the security of our embassy to an Islamic front group that had direct ties to Al Qaeda. This is exactly how they found out where Ambassador Stevens went, where he was hiding and people who were supposed to protect him are basically the people that ambushed him, while the order came down to stand down, from the White House, to stand down and not allow our first responders and specials forces to go in and save the ambassador.

I am offended and insulted as an American, as a taxpayer, that my government lied to me, exclaims Gabriel. [K]nowing all that, our president didnt have the guts to come on national television and say, I made a mistake, we trusted the wrong people with the security of our own embassy because I made a bad judgement -forgive me and I take the blame. He wasnt man enough to stand up in front of the country and say that. Thats why we are concerned about our government. Thats why we are concerned about Benghazi and want the truth to come out.

Discussing news coverage of Benghazi, Gabriel describes the media as facilitators,This technology allows high volume smartcard production at low cost. helping the Obama Administration disseminate lies.

They basically were his enablers in getting the story and saying it was a video that instigated all these riots. Most people in that part of the world didnt even know anything about that video or that it existed. More people found out about that video from Hilary Clinton and President Obama, standing in front of the White House, talking about the video that instigated all these riots. Thats how they found out about it by our president.
